The AFL Outer East has released the 2021 ATC Traffic Division Two senior football and netball fixture.
The 16-round, eight-team competition will kick off on Saturday, April 17, where local rivals Powelltown and Warburton Millgrove will face off in a football home and away match for the first time in history.
Prior to their merging in 1967, the clubs of Warburton and Millgrove both last played against Powelltown in 1965. Powelltown’s last victory against Millgrove came in 1955, while its most recent victory over Warburton was in 1956.
Round 1 will also see Broadford open its Outer East playing account at home against Yea.
To round out the opening week, Yarra Junction will come up against Kinglake, while Yarra Glen will host Alexandra.
The Anzac Day Round the following week will see Warburton Millgrove play Yarra Junction at home, while Powelltown will travel to Kinglake in what will be the two football sides’ first encounter since the 2019 Semi Final.
It’s been a long wait for the Tigers, but Yea will finally unfurl the 2019 A Grade Netball Premiership flag in Round 2 when it hosts Yarra Glen.
The annual Pride Cup game returns in Round 4 with Yarra Glen fixtured to take on Powelltown.
Just one game will be played on the Queen’s Birthday weekend, Alexandra v Kinglake, as the remaining six sides will have a bye.
Finals will commence on Saturday, August 21, with the date for the football and netball Grand Finals set for Saturday, September 11.
