VOLUNTEER OF THE WEEK | In conjunction with Totally Workwear Berwick and TWW Knoxfield, the AFL Outer East is proud to kick off a new initiative – the Volunteer of the Week.
This week we are celebrating the efforts of Paul Broderick who volunteers for the Kinglake FNC.
Paul’s son Liam is one of the Laker’s senior players, distinctive for his long flowing hair, much like Jesus.
As the father of Jesus, Paul has aptly been nicknamed – God.
Paul was involved with the Kinglake Juniors as a coach for several years before he joined the senior club. He is currently the runner for the Lakers’ Reserves side and when needed he fulfils the role for the Senior side. He also runs water for Kinglake when required.
Outside of his on-field duties, Paul is involved in every home game ground set-up for the Lakers as well as doing some shifts in both the canteen and the bar.
According to club secretary Kris Hamer, Broderick is the ideal clubman.
“Paul is one of those rare volunteers that comes to us time after time asking how else he can help, instead of us having to ask which is a breath of fresh air.”
Not only is Paul a great club volunteer for Kinglake, he also completed a full pre-season with the Lakers this year, despite being over the age of 50.
Well Done Paul – Our Totally Workwear Volunteer of the Week!
