AFL VICTORIA ANNOUNCE COMMUNITY CHAMPIONSHIPS RANKINGS

AFL Victoria have announced the new rankings for the 2020 WorkSafe AFL Victoria Community Championships after the 2019 edition was played out last weekend, with the Northern Football Netball League claiming the number one spot following a 24 point victory over the Geelong Football Netball League.

It was Geelong’s second loss in the showpiece game in as many years after they were defeated by the Eastern Football League in 2018. Geelong were able to play in the showpiece again this season after the Eastern Football League decided to opt out of the competition.

The AFL Outer East lost convincingly to the Bendigo Football Netball League in ‘Game Five’ of the 2019 edition which pitted the two sides ranked nine and ten against each other. Following the 99 point loss the Outer East have now slipped to 11th position in the rankings, replaced inside the top ten by the Central Murray FNL who defeated the Gippsland Football Netball League by nine points on Saturday.

Bendigo climbed into eighth position in the rankings, above the Ballarat Football Netball League who went down by 74 points to the Hampden Football Netball League.

At this stage fixtures for next season are not finalised as leagues are given until the final months of the year to decide whether or not they would like to partake in the WorkSafe AFL Victoria Community Championships in 2020.
